Looking for wiring diagram and suggestions for radio issue

Our old radio started acting up on us and we are now putting in a new one. The problem seems to be no power is getting to the yellow wire (battery wire). We tested by running a jumper wire directly from the positive battery terminal to the wire harness on the radio and it worked. So we think the green and black wire from the harness may be the culprit. Not sure where the wire runs behind the dash and how to replace it. The ignition wire gets power. The unit needs power from both sources to work. The battery wire runs the memory to the radio. Perhaps there is a another easier way to wire this that would avoid having to go all the way to the battery through all the places in the dash and firewall?

The truck is a 1998 F150 supercab.

There are 3 radio articles in the "How To Articles" under other. Perhaps they will help. The link is on the left side of the screen.

Thanks for your reply. I already looked at those but they really didn't help that much for what I need.

Depending on the option level, there may be two power wires from the vehicle harness.

The Lt Gr/purple is ALWAYS HOT and is fed from fuse F6 under the hood.

The Black/Pink is hot in ACCY and RUN and is fed through fuse F8 under the dash.

You will have to translate the listed wires to your new stereo's wiring harness.

The data in the How-To articles is not accurate for this vehicle. Correct info is available at http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/ste ... l/874.html which matches the factory EVTM data.

Yes the green/purple we think is the problem since it lines up with the yellow wire when you plug them together. I will check the fuses again since I think we were checking the wrong fuse perhaps.

projectsho89 you were right on the money with the fuse info. We were missing a fuse for F6. We had checked the fuse and the manual but it didn't say F6 for the radio it mentioned another fuse so we thought we had it covered as far as the fuses were concerned. I am so glad we didn't have to try to rewire the truck right now. Thanks for responding, it was much appreciated.
